Sorry..No Pics From The Gulf

Hey Everyone!
So I didnt make it out to the beach today and from the pictures that I saw tonight the waves didnt look all that good. It looked about stomach high and just some nasty windy conditions with poor wave form. Oh well, maybe next time.
Im headed back to Folly tomorrow and the forecast there looks pretty bad too. It looks like thursday might produce some OK waves in the waist high range for later in the day. Im sure we will all be keeping an eye on it.

Again, heres a few more pics from Central America that I have saved to this computer....ENJOY

Gulf Coast Waves!

Whats up everyone??
So I checked the reports for the gulf before I drove to Florida today and was not expecting to see much. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Surfline was calling for thigh to chest high waves for West Florida for Sunday-Tuesday. These will be short period waves developed from some strong NW winds that will be a result of a cold front.
It rarely matches up that when I come back to Tampa the Gulf actually has some waves so I'm excited. I do have my camera so I hope I can upload some pics from Monday and also surf a little. Its a shame that its a windswell because when they receive groundswell here the water and lighting can be pretty spectacular. O well, I am excited to be surfing in some water a little warmer then Folly.

Whenever I do come back to the gulf coast of Florida, Gulfster is by far the best overall site for this area. They have forecasts, photos, cams and everything else you need to stay up to date. They also have a lot of good info and connections if anyone is looking to go down to Puerto Rico. Its such a short trip that many gulf coasters make the trip when they are hungry for some "olas". So check out GULFSTER  and lets hope this forecast holds and I can get some waves and pictures Monday.

I am on my computer at home which has all of my pictures from when I lived in Costa Rica 2 winters ago. In the future, I will talk more about this and post more pictures but heres a few to help you book a ticket somewhere and dust off that passport!!

New Lens!! No Waves...

Dolphins Dance for Follyhood

Happy Friday Everyone!
Good news, I bit the bullet and bought a bigger lens for my camera! I got it from the same company that I bought my D3000 and 18-55mm lens from. I tried to get it on Ebay for a little cheaper but it always came down to the wire and I kept getting outbid for the same price that I could get it on KEH.com.

Call me old fashion, but last night was the first time I've ever tried to outbid someone on Ebay and it was exhilarating. I was on the edge of my couch freaking out while I'm sure the guy outbidding me was casually drinking his latte in his loft studio. It is always on photo finish on Ebay. Anyways I ended up getting the Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200 f/4-5.6G IF-ED Lens with a hood. It should be coming in sometime next week. I know the forecast looks like shit but the next time there are waves Ill be ready to take a quality pictures of YOU and your buddies.

Get It!!

Im headed back to Florida for the weekend but I'm sure Ill take some pictures for everyone. I looked at the forecast for the Gulf and it looks just as bad as it does here so don't think Ill be getting a lot of surf photos. I may take my time on the ride home and take some nice pictures because its a nice drive from Folly through Georgia to the gulf coast of Florida.

I also wanted to give a shout out to a surf artist that I really like. His name is James Michael Nemnich. He does all kinds of art but he has about 15 pieces that comes under his surf art collection. You can buy his art at Mckevlins and also online. I've posted his link below.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hump-day Fun!

Yo!
This morning was a lot of fun with some nice chocolate barrels and strong offshore winds. The swell was running about chest high this morning and fading throughout the day. With a morning low tide, the waves this morning were fast and the drops were steep. I surfed for a few hours around noon and had a lot of fun. The air was cold and it felt better in the water!
Tomorrow looks to be fun with some clean waves with waist+ sets!!

I took some pictures in the morning and took a lot late afternoon with the fading swell! ENJOY
